Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have arrested nine people believed to be behind incidents of theft and car breaking in Mombasa. The suspects were arrested early on Thursday, June 25, at their house in Nyali in what the DCI described as a “stealth operation”.Nine suspects of car breaking and theft who have been operating within Mombasa County were today in the wee hours of the morning arrested by @DCI_Kenya Nyali detectives following a stealth operation at Furaha Apartments Hse no. In pictures shared by detectives, the nine seemed to have had a night full of fun before sleuths pounced on them. The suspects had enjoyed different alcoholic drinks, miraa and also shisha among other intoxicants. The police recovered three cars suspected to be used as getaway vehicles by the suspects.Also recovered from the house were several phones, bhang and KSh 100,000 in KSh 1,000 denominations. “Nine suspects of car breaking and theft who have been operating within Mombasa county were today in the wee hours of the morning arrested by DCI Nyali detectives following a stealth operation at Furaha Apartments in Nyali, Mombasa. On searching the house, several rolls of bhang, shisha pot, a packet of shisha, KSh 100,000 in one thousand denominations and assorted mobile phones were found,” DCI said in a statement. The suspects have been put under police custody as police intensify investigations into the case.
According to police, the nine are:
- Imran Faud Mohamed, 28,
- Ismael Fuad Mohamed, 26,
- Kelvin Osebe, 30,
- Omar Safari Sanje, 29,
- Nancy Ekasiva Aloo,29, and
- 22-year-old Julie Saida Magdalene.
- Brenda Juma, 21,
- Hamoud Mohamed Hamisi,
- 30, and James Otieno Ochieng, 32,
